Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao announced this Monday that the state is intensifying its crackdown on modern drug manufacturers using risky solvents. An advisory has been issued, and ongoing inspections are held to ensure adherence to prescribed standards.
Rao briefed Union Health Minister J P Nadda virtually from Chandigarh, revealing that drug manufacturers are warned to practice caution in handling chemicals like propylene glycol, glycol, and glycerin. To bolster this effort, joint inspections with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) have commenced.
The health department is utilizing the Online National Drugs Licensing System (ONDLS) for licensing and enforcement. Recent inspections have resulted in numerous actions, including halting production at twelve firms, cancelling two licences, and the development of a new state-of-the-art drug laboratory.
